In 2007 there were 12,864 hospital admissions in England for gastric duodenal or peptic ulcer haemorrhage. HEAT is a large scale outcomes study designed to see whether a one week course of H. pylori eradication reduces hospitalisation for ulcer bleeding in patients using aspirin.
