Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust was awash with red as staff showed their support for research by wearing something red as part of the celebrations for International Clinical Trials Day on Monday 20th May 2013.
NUH implemented a novel technological solution to address communication issues outside usual working hours in a highly successful project led by Dominick Shaw and Andrew Fearn. The wireless system has won an innovation award from Cisco. In 2007 there were 12,864 hospital admissions in England for gastric duodenal or peptic ulcer haemorrhage. HEAT is a large scale outcomes study designed to see whether a one week course of H. pylori eradication reduces hospitalisation for ulcer bleeding in patients using aspirin. With funding from the NIHR HTA Programme, it is being led by the University of Nottingham, with recruiting centres across the UK. Continue reading →
