The General Medical Council has published new guidance for doctors involved in research.
and set out the good practice principles that doctors are expected to understand and follow if they are involved in research.
The new research guidance takes into account the complex law and goverance arrangements that apply to research across the UK and includes specific advice on:
- The importance of promoting equality and preventing discrimination at all stages of research
- Involving adults who lack capacity in research
- Research involving children and young people
