Research and Collaboration Agreements

This type of agreement can be complex and must address a number of issues whilst clearly defining the understanding and obligations of each party to the Agreement whilst remaining focused on the common research aims and objectives wherein several researchers/individuals wish to conduct research with a common goal.

The Trust utilises the Lambert Agreements as a model format. These agreements will need to be written and negotiated on a case by case basis taking into consideration the work involved, the number of parties and the specific aims of the project. The Lambert Agreements were originally drafted with a view to facilitating knowledge transfer and successful collaborative working between Industry and Universities. Whilst they provide a useful framework for research and collaboration agreements each agreement must be drafted according to the specific research in question.

The model agreements are available at the government’s IPO site.
