Nottingham University Hospitals top trust in England for meeting the 70 Day benchmark

The Government’s Plan for Growth published in March 2011 publicised the transformation of incentives at local level for setting up and delivering research. At NUH we are committed to ensuring patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials when they come to our organisation for care. We make certain that we focus our resources in the right areas, by setting up our trials quickly and efficiently and recruiting to time and target.

We are very proud to announce that NUH has reached 100% regarding setting up studies within the 70 day benchmark; in fact the average time taken to recruit the first patient in to a clinical trial at NUH is just 47 days from receipt of the study application. This means we are currently ranked 1st in the NIHR league tables (Division 1) above other similar sized Trusts such as Guys and St Thomas’, UCL, Newcastle upon Tyne and Central Manchester.

This is made possible by the commitment and hard work of Investigators, research teams, R&I and network staff who have responded to these new challenges with enthusiasm and we would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work and support.
